For years we have been looking for a solution from Onyx that would work natively on a Mac which is where we design. Recently, we have been looking into a flatbed router solution. Esko offered a unique piece of software that included a smart nesting package with their devices that had certainly caught our attention. At the same time, we received an email from the Onyx Graphics marketing team about their new product ONYX TruFit.
ONYX TruFit offered shape-based nesting, a double-sided banner workflow for our HP printers and automatic cut file generation of rastered images. The best part, it was being offered at a third of the cost of their competitor!
We had already decided upon a complete ONYX workflow with whatever router we ended up with; so in essence, ONYX TruFit helped us with a down to the wire decision for what device we were going to be purchasing.
Our workflow has now been redefined. We take our ready-to-print files into TruFit, automatically add our cut shape, drop it into our Quick Set where it will rip, process and wait for our operator to release on one of our devices. We no longer have to ask the question, “Could we have maximized our media usage anymore?” We now know how much media is being utilized before our file even releases to be ripped in Onyx. Best of all, this works across all of our printers and vinyl cutters. I cannot wait to add this to our CNC router.
For us, the integration of automation into our workflow is a no-brainer. We are now able to level the playing field with the “big boys” that surround us! By maximizing our media usage, we reduce our waste. Reduced waste maximizes our profits!”
